Delicious! I had the filet mignon, my wife had the salmon. We were a little early for our reservation so we went to the bar for a drink, the service was outstanding although it was a little loud (but it's a bar, so it's ok). We will be def going back to the restaurant
Was in Harrisonburg for a work trip. Made a quick reservation online. There wasn't much in the way of parking, but found easy parking on the street. Service was amazing. The old fashioned was delicious. My steak was slightly dry and overcooked, but still very flavorful. Mashed potatoes were amazing and loved the horseradish sauce. My dining partner really enjoyed the duck fat fries and the bread with his meal. Another plus it's open on Mondays when other places around town are not. Would definitely return.
The duck was delicious and the service very attentive. The signature cocktail was far too sweet for my taste but it was my first visit so I know to just go neat instead. Our group had such a lovely relaxed dinner after the exceptional show at the Shakespeare theater. Just one thing could have made dinner better: fresher asparagus (no brown wrinkled bottom half). Enjoy!
We came here last night for my birthday dinner, we are staying at the nearby resort and I wanted something nice for the occasion. The server was attentive and gave some good recommendations. We ended up getting the 8oz Sirloin with Mac and cheese and the Wagyu burger with the duck fat fries. We also ordered the chop salad as a starter-heads up, it's salty. Overall the ambiance was good for a nice dinner and classy vibe. It's more classic feeling than a modern feel, but I love that for special occasions. I would return again when we come to the area.
Wife and I traveling from Boston to Birmingham with a mid-trip overnight in Harrisonburg. What an incredible dinner find! Often the reviews create expectations that aren't met by the experience. Not the case this time. Highlights include: Nice ambiance. Old building with well spaced seating, soft lighting and a quiet atmosphere. Friendly, well-informed and attentive wait staff. Great pacing throughout dinner. Great selection of cocktails m wine, bourbon and single malt scotch. Food was fantastic - fresh, locally-sourced, well-prepared. We had salad (chop house salad and spring salad). Both were delicious. Followed with steaks - filet and ribeye. Cooked as ordered. Quality cuts. Finished with the blueberry-peach crisp and coffee. OMG! So good. Would and have recommended to friends. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.
The Local Chop & Grill is a nice addition to the Harrisonburg area. Food is sourced from local farms, and then menu is on point, offering a wide variety of meat cuts, salads, sides, and sauces. I started with the U10 Scallop appetizer with Fennel Slaw. The scallops were perfectly cooked and were fresh. The fennel slaw was outstanding and, together, made the perfect starter plate. I went with the Duck Breast for my main with a side of the asparagus with lemon sea salt. The Duck breasr was cooked perfectly, and I had chosen the arugula chimichurri sauce to go with it, which was fresh and had just enough kick to handle the duck. The grilled asparagus was absolutely delicious. I wanted something light for dessert so I went with the Berries and Cream. The cake was more of a corn cake with lemon syrup rather that a lemon cake. It was heavy and dry and not as sweet and light as I was expecting. The berries were fresh and maceration perfectly. The cream was a marscapone creme and while delicious, could be slightly lighter whipped. Total came to $75.00 and that total included a 20% tip because the service was very good and my waiter was attentive. This is about the best grill restaurant in Harrisonburg. Parking is a little sparse, but there is an overflow lot for staff across the street. We'll worth the trip and I would definitely return.
Great, upscale restaurant in a slightly awkward location in Harrisonburg. Perfect place to take loved ones out for a special occasion - in our case, a birthday. Menu changes seasonally and most ingredients are sourced locally, which our server was happy to boast about. The server was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond what is expected of them. Everyone in my party was very satisfied with what they ordered - from pasta, to seafood, to salad, to steak - all of it was excellent. My entree was the grilled 8oz sirloin with fries. They have six sauces for you to pick from, and each the server has recommendations for what sauce pairs well with each entree. The server recommended the arugula chimichurri and I was not disappointed. If you do come here, I'd recommend making a reservation. It does seem like it could fill up quickly. I don't plan on coming here very often, but I will definitely be planning a graduation dinner for my loved ones here eventually!
Here we are AGAIN!!! Just the best! From the minute we were seated in the Lounge, Logan was there to assist! He knew the menu perfectly and we ordered YUMMY food. The wings were tender and the sauce...the "money sauce" was excellent. My slider was great! Hubby ordered the strip steak, locally sourced, that was done to perfection. OH ...the mac and cheese was a great addition.
My family was vacationing at Massannutten and our vacation fell on my parent's anniversary. I have never been to the Local Chop & Grill House, but based on the great reviews, I bought my parents a gift card so they could celebrate in style. They had nothing but great things to say! They were greeted in a friendly manner and presented with the gift card along with a greeting they previously asked me for over the phone. The service and food were outstanding and they were more than pleased with their experience. Thanks, Local Chop & Grill House for making their evening so special!
